The guys kindly made some space on the bandwagon and so I decided to hop on. Here's what happened on my first attempt...I filtered out the females and picked out the people that I recognized except for the first guy, I kept him since he was the highest match:

At first I didn't think I looked anything like Frodo, but then I figured that's probably what I would look like if Jim were to fart in my face.

For fun I thought I would try it again. This is what I got:

I didn't edit the list this time...these were the top matches for me. What was alarming was the number of female celebrities that came up as a match. The next 5 top matches were all females:

Emmanuelle Beart 62%
Shiri Appleby 61%
Maggie Cheung 61%
Benita Ferrero-Waldner 61%
Mario Sharapova 60%
Not that i'm unsure of my masculinity but if somebody out on the street does a double-take as they pass me, i'll wonder if they thought I was Mario Sharapova or Benita Ferrero-Waldner. On second thought, if they thought I looked like either then I should probably just keep on walking.
Kudos to Jason for getting the fun of celebrity look-alikes going!

In case you haven't heard it in a while...

Or you never heard it at all. 80's are making a comeback, and there's nothing you can do to stop it!

I'm jumping on the bus

Inspired by Lindsays collaging skills, I decided to send a picture of myself to the myheritage.com website to see my celebrity lookalike is. We told people it was to see the Bumbershoot music festival (more on that later) but it was really to see the Seahawks football team play (lots more on that later). Here are some of the pictures from the Vancouver portion of the trip.

This was the first time either of us had seen these bears around Vancouver. So of course, in full tourist mode, we stop for some pictures. Here Sheena is tickling the bears chin, a la Goldilocks. He seems like sucha friendly bear here doesn't he?
Not so fast though! He quickly spots me with the camera and goes off Hugh Grant style and starts kicking my ass. Turns out these bears are all over downtown Vancouver. They are some kind of gang or something.
Mother fuckin Danger Bay man. That's all I could say here. Awww inspiring.
Sheena likes ponies, so of course we had to stop and boost her up on the horse here. The old lady was just for shits and giggles.

Welcome Bert, our new baby.

Darcy and Sheena would like to present Bert, our new baby. We interviewed a couple of different cats through NASAP, an animal protection agency. Some were too quiet, too scared, shed too much for my taste, or attacked Sheena's nose. After becoming a little bummed out that we weren't going to find a match for us, we met up with Bert. He's a very active little fellow, but very friendly. And yes he was named Bert when we got him. Not relation to Dilbert, my brother Darryl's cat. I'm hoping to take Bert to Grande Prairie with us one of these trips so the cats can play.

He only looks like he's ready to attack you. Doorbell ringing. I throw on my silk robe and cautiously head to the front of the house, not really sure what is going. Look out the window at an Edmonton Police officer. Throw on our outside light, blinding him. Notice that where my car used to be, there is now the back end of a Blazer on the wrong side of the road. Tired brain cannot compute.

So this is the end of Timmy the car likely. Looks like a 17 year old girl was driving her boyfriend home at midnight, swerved to miss a biker, hit a construction pylon and freaked out, pinning the gas. My car was pushed about 2-3 car lengths back from where I parked it, and hit our neighbors Jetta. Me and Sheena didn't even wake up. I have a copy of the police report, and now I need to talk to their insurance company to go from here. Blah. And it's raining outside.

My not-so-new-anymore camera.

So I purchased my first camera at Christmas when I was in Thailand. It sounds exotic, but I bought it online at Best Buy, and had it shipped to my home in Edmonton. Now, I'll warn you that I'm a horrible photographer, as you will soon see. Thankfully there are some fun loving subjects around for me to take pictures of. For no particular reason, here are some of my latest pictures.

We recently had a Superbowl party at Ians, and in true Superbowl style, we loaded up on junk food and ate until my intestines were messed up for a week. Literally, everything I ate that day included cheese (now if only they made cheese beer, I would be in...well a morgue probably with a heart attack). The other guys at the party, being the carnivores they are, took a momentary break from eating cheese to eat some hot wings. Anyways, this picture shows Ian with our Costco receipt, flying gently in the breeze as we emerge triumphantly.

And now a not so flattering pictures. Ian covets the groceries. Stupid little hobbits won't get any. The groceries are Ians, his precious.

Tara is magic. She can make chocolate Eggies float in thin air. Unfortunately, this little Eggie didn't last long, and oddly, neither did the rest of the bowl of Eggies I left there. I'm a fool. I fell victim to one of the classic blunders. The most famous is never get involved in a land war in Asia, but only slightly less well known is this: never leave chocolate in the hands of women on TV night!

Hey Mr. Tambourine.....Head? While it looks like I'm a victim of a prank after passing out drunk, this prank was self-administered. I'm telling you, this tambourine is magic! Magic, dammit!

In an attempt to get healthier, morning workouts have been happening a couple of times a week in my apartment. The Seahawks lost the Super Bowl (thankfully there are no pictures of me whining and crying, not because I didn't whine and cry, but because there were no cameras), a group of us went on a month long adventure to Korea and Thailand, and my strike at work ended.

So it's back to work for me, and today work is a little slow. No more excuses not to update this webpage. Jim is working on a large trip report for Korea and Thailand, and I have some writings of my own to add, but until then, here are some teasers pictures from the trip. Enjoy!

Hey you, don't eat our tree! Darcy loves his vegetables. Now if only we could grow them like this back on the farm. No wonder they eat so many vegetables here in Korea.

Darryl at a bank machine in Korea getting out some Won, quickly to be spent on kimchi and counterfeit jerseys. No, but with that little belly hanging out, you might think it was. It's actually just a shy me at a mountain top temple in the Thai city of Chiang Mai. Why am I so shy? Well, I have just gotten a haircut. Normally not a big deal, but it was my first real haircut in about 8 months at this time, since I started the "Darcy learns to cut his own hair project". A lot of people were very thankful when that project ended. Now I need a new project; heaven forbid I should finish any of my other ongoing projects (T-Skirt anyone?).

Many more pictures and stories to come. With over a thousand (1000!) pictures and videos to go through, it may take us a while. Till then, I had better get back to work.

Love,
Darcy

Sex Scandal Article People

OK, I thought I'd do my first blog by recounting last night's dinner and a movie, Korean style. After gathering up a few willing food connoisseurs (and tricking Ian by telling him we're going to McDonald's - jk) we met for a Korean style barbeque. The food was good, if not a little pricey for what you get. To briefly recap the details, Jason enjoyed loading up his "big daddy" lettuce wraps with huge barbaric chunks of meat, and Bonnie struggled with downing the 오징어 (squid). Jim was not impressed with Denny wasting the succulent mussel juice by draining it out of the shell prior to eating. Jeff was managing his end of the table in his trademarked organized way, having all the meat arranged "just so" on the grill. Ian wouldn't go bbq style at all, settling for teryaki chicken. Mike and I just kind of ate... I can't be bothered wasting too much talking time while there's good food to be had, though I did have time to take a photo or two...

Hours later and with full stomaches and heavy hearts, we set off for Jason and Bonnie's place, where the promise of video games, asian pop culture, and general fun for all is assured. Bonnie even taught me how to play part of the music for Super Mario 1 on piano! We settled on a Korean thriller movie called "폰", or as we call it, "Phone". The movie was as good as any Hollywood Thriller, and probably less controversial than MJ Thriller (though just as much underage kissing/touching).

Thriller vs. Thriller
Shaa! Then there were even freakier scenes with psycho daughter trying to make out with daddy. That crazy 6 year old actress and her scary facial expressions is what really made the movie for me (along with the constant ringing of the haunted mobile phone and the vague allusions to the sex scandal article people - this sort of tied everything together and made it all make sense). If only women would fight like that over men in real life - well, minus the killing part... yayacatfight!!!

Elaine: Ok, why? Why do guys do this? What is so appealing to men about a cat fight?

Kramer: Yeye cat fight!

Jerry: Because men think if women are grabbing and clawing at each other there’s a chance they might somehow kiss.

Well, this is my first attempt at blogging, I'll see you all again real soon. I think I tend to analyze what i'm writing too much and more often then not i'll probably end up deleting more than I write. I marvel sometimes how so many blogs out there seem like the owners have computers jacked into their brains and thoughts just stream out. Can one really become addicted to the voyeuristic pleasure of having others know their thoughts? It's hard to think of "taking time off" from my life of doing pretty much nothing when I was working. Life is now filled with random road trips and kittens with wings. Whee. It's 1 am, and I feel like going to bed, but then again, I really don't need to get up tommorow morning. I'll give you a run down of my day instead.

0800 - Wake up only because I'm not at my house, and can't crash here all day. Or can I...
0805 - Drive Girlfriend to work.
0900 - Bored already, play some Madden on PS2.
1000 - No computer can beat me! Doesn't hurt that we handicap the AI, but a win is a win.
1100 - Did some heavy reading for about 5 minutes. Whew, took a lot out of me. Nap time.
1330 - Wake up, have some lunch, watch roomate Jason play Madden.
1500 - The 3 of us lounge around the house trying to decide what new video games we can play.
1700 - Play Madden against roomate Aaron. These matches are tense, and no woman or child should be allowed to listen to our swearing and bitching. Too much drama!
1800 - Can't believe I lost to this guy. Grrrr

This reminds me. The Oilers just had their anual Joey Moss Cup game. No particular reason.

1830 - Finished my bitching. Clean kitchen to feel like I did something today, and possibly get a buzz from oven cleaner. Oh yeah, that's what I needed. I'm king of the world again!
2000 - Guess I better shower today. Check.
2100 - Weasel out of going out drinking. If only they had told me there would be karaoke before they left, I may have gotten motivated. It's not that I like to sing that much, but I like people to feel awkward and uncomfortable, which is how people look when they have to listen to me sing.
2200 - Britney Spears had her baby! Kevin Federline, you are a dirty man for tainting her with your demon seed. I will never think of Britney the same way. Now millions of bored men will have to wait for Jamie-Lynn Spears 18th, or first Maxim cover, to think about a Spears girl the same way.

Rest of the night spent sorting MP3's, trying to figure out how to play poker online, and looking at old pictures. Just to take some of the heat off of Aaron, here is an equally poor picture of me. This is from the classic Darcy Aluminum Head series, the morning after I had watched Signs for the first time at Ian and Karine's, and was a little freaked out. It's no Darsee, but then again, what is?

Welcome, greeting, blah, blah, blah...

Well, welcome to the dank world of Edmonton. Hopefully this shared blog will arouse your interest. There are 5 key players here, all represented in the JJILD lettering. Growing impatient waiting for our other friends to update their own blogs, eventually we got sick of just bitching about it, and tried to set something up ourselves. Now having a blog is one thing, having a blog littered with Arnie references is another, and having a good blog is completely serperate from the other 2.

Also, I like the Scribe layout of the blog. It makes me feel classy like only a scribe layout or some whore red lipstick could. Halloween is only a month away, but already my plans to combine the 2 into a sexy scribe costume are well underway.

Donch
